Information for pilots

Take off and land on Baltrum
Visual approach & pilot info

Approach from the west. If the landing schedule doesn't quite fit, there are well-maintained safety strips in front of and behind the runway. When approaching from the east, try not to get in too deep. Seabirds breed in the salt marshes in front of the start of the slope. In order to get to starting point 27, please always roll directly on the slope. After landing on the 09, do the backtrack on the runway if possible. When rolling to the parking space or back onto the slope, be sure to watch out for possible rabbit holes.

Operating Hours

Clearly: during the summertime, a midday rest period from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. must be observed, precisely because the airfield is right next to you. There is no lunch break during the winter. There is no lighting, so no night flight.

Summertime:
08.00 – 13.00 and 15.00 – 19.00

Wintertime:
SR minus 30 mins – SS plus 30 mins

[indications in local time / local time]

Flight movements outside of the above times can only be approved by the responsible authority!

Even if our airfield is a special landing field with PPR status, of course, the field is occupied almost every day at the following times from the beginning of the Easter holidays until the end of the autumn holidays:

Daily:
10.30 – 13.00
15.00 – 17.30

[indications in local time / local time]

Outside of these times, the phone is diverted to the "Airport Director". If the flight controller doesn't react immediately to the first radio call - don't panic - continue the approach, because he sometimes does outside work (or something like that) and will be alert at the latest when flying low.

Landing Fee & Schedule of Fees

Since the maintenance of the airfield on Baltrum is quite expensive, a landing fee is charged. When aircraft land, their owners or pilots must pay a fee (landing fee) to the airport operator in accordance with this fee schedule. The landing fee is due upon landing. A landing fee is also payable in the event of ground contact followed by a go-around and applies to airplanes, rotorcraft, microlights and motor gliders.
The landing fee is based on the maximum take-off weight entered in the aircraft's certification document. Detailed information on the landing fee can be found in the schedule of fees for the Baltrum special landing site.
In addition, we are obliged to collect the guest fee for day visitors. Adults €3, children (7 to 18 years) €1.
Please be understanding.
